And so it begins...

I'm Bea. A pint sized, freckly young lady from Northern Michigan who loves to experience this world with the young man that I love, Connor. Connor, more commonly known as Cons, is the most gentle, kind, and respectful human that I could ever dream to spend my life with. He is large and strong with eyes that will shine for days. We make a great duo. We are equally curious and excited about where our travels will take us.

Connor and I are currently snuggled under blankies on this delightfully grey Sunday. Macbook open, iPad glowing, pages turning on our bike touring bible, and quickly checking off to-dos on todays list. Allow me to back up a bit. My incredible boyfriend and I are planning our trip around the States and have decided to do so on bicycles. From the beginning, it has been important to us, as it always has, to approach this trip with the intentions to cover large distances without abusing any kind of natural resources--the bikes we choose will allow us to do just that, hence, "treading lightly."

Our catalyst for change began the day we decided to travel via two wheels rather than four. We recently owned a black Subaru Forester, also known as Princess Diana--who ate, unlike the real princess, copious amounts of non-renewable, heavily refined fossil food. Tired of her appetite breaking the bank, we shifted gears and decided to tour by bike, instead of by car. Although she produced better gas mileage than some, Connor's lengthy commute home, and our college budget, made her an expensive date. That being said, we sold the "sube" and began to prepare for our adventure aboard two wheels.

"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step." -Unknown

Wow. First post finished and we're one step closer...the ball is rolling. Join us vicariously as we travel these great United States! See you soon.
